PlayTweet help
Install PlayTweet
Add PlayTweet to Chrome, then open or refresh X.
Create a reaction
- Open X in desktop Chrome and select a text post with PlayTweet.
- Choose Respect, Congrats, Love it, Agree, Disagree or Let's connect!
- Preview the reaction. Video is selected by default; choose GIF if you prefer.
- Choose Insert for a reply or Quote for a quote draft.
- Check the attachment and draft in X. Post when you're ready.
Long text continues in parts of the same fixed-size clip. The animation keeps the author's displayed photo, display name and handle, with playtweet.com at the bottom.
Export formats
Video is the default. PlayTweet exports MP4 when your browser supports it. If your browser produces WebM, that file is download-only and needs conversion to MP4 before you attach it to X. You can also choose GIF.
GIF export is limited to two minutes. Try a shorter post if the reaction exceeds that limit.
Recording stopped or did not finish
Keep the X tab visible until recording finishes. If recording stops, return to the tab and start generation again. Longer clips take more time to create.
Another draft is already open
Finish or close the existing X composer draft, then insert your reaction. Check which draft is open before continuing.
The attachment did not appear
Give X time to finish uploading the attachment. If another draft is open, finish or close it first.
You can download an MP4 or GIF and attach it manually in X. If you downloaded WebM, convert it to MP4 before attaching it. Check the attachment in the composer before posting.
X may upload an attachment while it prepares a draft, even if you have not published the post.
Replying to your own post
If X opens “Add another post” when you reply to your own post, PlayTweet stops the insertion. Save the media, then attach it to that draft yourself.
PlayTweet controls are missing
If PlayTweet is installed, refresh X after installing or updating it and select a post that contains text. If the controls still do not appear, contact support with your Chrome version and what happened.
Do I need an AI account?
No. Video and GIF reactions are created locally and need no AI account, credits or API key.
Remove PlayTweet, files or drafts
To remove the extension, open Chrome's Extensions menu, choose Manage extensions, then choose Remove for PlayTweet.
Saved files and X drafts remain after you remove the extension. Delete downloads on your device and drafts in X.
